Epona Riding Instruction
About Me
Hello and welcome . My name is Ramzi Hijjawi and I am a BHSIT freelance
rider/instructor. I am based in Hampshire between the market town of Alton and the city of Basingstoke.
First a little bit about me and my past equine career. In 1995-1996 I was deputy head of Wellington Riding Centers livery yard. Here, I allocated jobs to other members of staff and made sure that all horses and clients were looked after. I also trained the working students and career students to become instructors which included riding lessons , stable management lectures and practical lectures.
After Wellington, I thought I might try my hand further afield. In 1996 I was asked to go to Dubai for a year. In Dubai, I instructed and lectured at The Dubai Equestrian Center. Most of my weekends were taken up competing at show jumping, traveling throughout the local Emirate States to different venues. Classes that I competed in were from novice horse up to open level, finally qualifying for the Samsung International Show.
After my year in Dubai, I returned to England, freelancing for six months in Hampshire where I schooled peoples horses and taught locally. In 1998 I returned to Wellington and continued with similar duties but this time I was head of the livery yard and Wellington coordinator of all saddle club events. I competed at the Wellington Dressage festival on the centers horses, and this is when I got the bug for dressage.
I found a position in Odiham, Hampshire, with Paul & Claire Turner. Working at Varndell Dressage as second rider yard manager, I competed, rode and schooled some top quality
dressage horses and had some great instruction from Paul. Still having a hankering to jump, I relocated to Suffolk and for a year I trained, schooled and rode point to pointers, which added to my experience and was extremely useful - not to mention great fun. Meanwhile, I did not let my dressage slip, and I continued receiving instruction from Ruth Lovell. Currently I have been helping break young horses up in Newbury ,so as well as teaching and riding I also get involved with educating the young horse.
